This is the first 'Oswald the Lucky Rabbit' cartoon released on Sept 2, 1929. It is also the first theatrical cartoon released by the Walter Lantz studio. Walter Lantz Studio was an American animation studio (1929 to 1972) and was the principal supplier of animation for the Universal Studios, now part of the media conglomerate NBC.
The story is about a race in which Oswald takes part with his horse and the funny things happening before and during the race. It has been directed by Walter Lantz. The story and animation was done by Walter Lantz, Bill Nolan and Tom Palmer while the musical score was done by Bert Fiske. It was the first score by Bert Fiske.
